Thank You to All

The conference organising committee is delighted with the way in which events transpired. The programme turned out to be just right to interest delegates, and the range of speakers covered some 13 Asia-Pacific jurisdictions as well as London and The Hague. It was particularly gratifying to have representation from some developing economies, and it was also excellent that we were able to mix in some seasoned arbitration campaigners with some younger up and coming practitioners.

As chairman, I was particularly delighted with the participation of a number of senior judges from the region, including Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Western Australia, Wayne Martin, whose presentation at the conference dinner was nothing short of excellent. Of course, it would be remiss of me not to also mention Bernard Salt, whose lunchtime address on the first working day of the conference can only be described as spectacularly entertaining.

A special thank you to The Chief Justice of Victoria, Marilyn Warren, who graciously allowed us the use of the Supreme Court library for our welcome reception, and who then attended the next day to open the conference. Thank you also to Yu Jianlong, APRAG president, for his help and support, thank you to all of our speakers and sponsors, to our conference managers, arinex Pty Ltd, and to all of the delegates, whose attendance and participation helped assure success.

APRAG President’s Message

As President of the Asia Pacific Regional Arbitration Group (APRAG), I am delighted to introduce and support the 10th Anniversary APRAG Conference in Melbourne in March 2014.

Ten years of APRAG is an important milestone in both the history of APRAG and international dispute resolution in the Asia Pacific Region.  It is appropriate that we return to Australia, the birth place of APRAG, for this event which promises to be a most significant event in the International Arbitration calendar.

I encourage all those who are interested in International Dispute Resolution from the Region, and elsewhere in the world, to join us at this conference in Melbourne Australia.

Welcome from ACICA President

On behalf of the Australian Centre for International Arbitration (ACICA) I would like to welcome you to the APRAG 10th Anniversary Conference.

It is an honour and privilege to bring this event to Australia.

As a foundation member of APRAG and the Australian Government’s sole default appointing authority, ACICA is proud to host what will be the largest gathering of its kind in Australia.

The growth of APRAG’s members from 17 to over 40 institutions in the last 10 years is a reflection of the growing importance of international arbitration in the Asia Pacific.

I congratulate ACICA Director and Fellow Ron Salter and the Conference Organising Committee who will be delivering an outstanding program of proceedings and social functions.

I look forward to celebrating with you at APRAG2014.

Warm regards,
